5th Edition rulebook is the most recent. It's a big, grey book with a picture of a power hammer and small shield on the front cover. It also comes in a softback A5 edition in the "Assault on Black Reach" boxed set (sometimes available separately on eBay).
The Necron codex was written for 4th Edition and hasn't translated brilliantly into the new edition. It's not due to be replaced until sometime next year, though. You can buy it from a GW hobby centre or pick it up on eBay second hand at a discount.What is the current edition of warhammer 40k?
