How do I activate my account for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?

I have been in the beta, and have the collectors edition of Warhammer Online, so I have been playing for a while. But today, it wouldnt let me log in. I went to my account and it said it was inactive. I went to billing and put in my credit card information, but it still won't activate. What do I do?How do I activate my account for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?
Collectors Edition:

You will get:

Beta keys : only works on open beta,

Head Start keys: only works before the actual launch.

Bonus Key: you get stuff if u activate it.

I believe theres 1 more key on the card that they give u.

ANYWAYS.... the actual CE box comes with ANOTHER set of keys. You have to activate this key too after the head start key expires which you all seem to have experienced it. Good luck

They were supposed to fix this if you looked at the site, certain distributors of the copy of the game, had not sent out key codes for players. It states on the website who you should contact. I am in the same boat as you. Best Buy is mine, and Mythic no longer works with them due to this happening. I just have to wait for the mail man to show up. How do I activate my account for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?
I was confused by this too. The code that you have when you picked up warhammer has to be used first, THEN it will say active. Hope this helps :)
you need to put the actual game's code into it. the code you had in was just for the beta. How do I activate my account for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?

What is more fun and popular, Warhammer 40k, or Lord of the rings stratagy game?

I like sword fighting games a little more but I like building the figures wich I cant do with lord of the rings strategy game. What is more fun and popular, Warhammer 40k, or Lord of the rings stratagy game?
There's no question that Warhammer 40,000 is more popular than Lord of the Rings, perhaps by a factor five or greater.

That said, both games are equally fun and Lord of the Rings is actually far better designed as a game than Warhammer 40,000, which suffers from legacy issues.

But if your biggest enjoyment is in the building of the miniatures - and, prrsumably, some converting and customizing of miniatures - but you prefer a fantasy-style game to a science fiction game, then why not check out Warhammer 40,000's fantasy sister-game, Warhammer Fantasy Battles?

The start boxed set is called "Battle for Skull Pass" and includes small armies of orcs and dwarfs, all the rules, dice, measuring sticks and a booklet of scenarios to get you started. What is more fun and popular, Warhammer 40k, or Lord of the rings stratagy game?

I am considering of collecting Warhammer or 40k tabletop game, just asking what army are the easiest to paint?

and which one is played more?I am considering of collecting Warhammer or 40k tabletop game, just asking what army are the easiest to paint?
Lord_Darkclaw is technically correct that the Necrons are easiest to paint. However, they are also quite difficult to construct.

In the round, the army that is easiest to construct and paint, and which is also by far and away the most popular to play is Space Marines. Because they come in the Assault on Black Reach boxed set, as well as in a popular clip-together expansion box, they are quick and cheap to acquire and assemble. Because most of them are encased entirely in thick armour they are also easy to paint in a single, bold colour (the ones without helmets benefit from a little separate attention, but that's by-the-by).

Easy painting and effective painting, of course, aren't always the same thing. But marines are an example in which they can be. From a single base colour (let's say Ultramarines Blue just for the heck of it), they can be quickly and easily shaded with an application of Army Painter Quick Shade Strong Tone (http://www.thearmypainter.com/product_pr鈥?/a> A drybrush of Enchanted Blue will then bring out the highlights effectively, giving you a very quick, very effective-looking army.

Adding chapter markings, company insignia and other details, of course, takes longer. But just from these three, simple steps you have an army that will look at home on any tabletop, leaving you plenty of time to add the bling when you feel inclined.I am considering of collecting Warhammer or 40k tabletop game, just asking what army are the easiest to paint?
Necrons are the easiest to paint but to play Space Marines are a better choice.I am considering of collecting Warhammer or 40k tabletop game, just asking what army are the easiest to paint?
Space Marines are the easiest to paint and customize and it is the most popular army.

What's the best warhammer army (not 40k) to suit me?

i want something that has a variety of units attractive models and is easy to battle with but must not be obscenely difficult to paint i have had some experience in 40k and lotr but thats it

and please guys don't argue about itWhat's the best warhammer army (not 40k) to suit me?
it depends on what you what. the most varied army in my opinion is Skaven. there are four major clans. Clan Skyre are techno-wizards (buy upgrades to make them better) who always know the warp-lightning spell (5+= d6 strength 5 hits or 9+=2d6 hits) and they have a lot of short ranged guns which can kill themselves. Clan Eshin are unarmoured skirmishers. Clan Moulder have mutant rat beasts. Clan Pestilence are crazy unamoured skaven who all have the frenzy rule (+1 attack and must charge if in range or move as fast as possible to the nearest visible enemy). You can field a mixture of them. the core of most skaven armies are clanrats (who are average troops) and clanrat slaves (rubbish but perfect shield as no-one cares if they run away). What's the best warhammer army (not 40k) to suit me?
i personally think you should chose an easy army to start with and then make your way up from there any army like empire or dwarfs should get you going as skaven are a bit more difficult

My suggestion would be to go down to your local hobby shop and ask one of the staff there these questions. And if it's anything like mine they should have store copies of some of the codex's that you can look at.

Another to try would be to come in on one of thier game nights and chat with the warhammer fantasy players.

    Depends how you play.

Marauder does alot of melee damage, but if caught out in the open, they can die pretty easy. Chosen are more like tanks, can soak alot of damage, and have auras that help your group.

Marauders are pretty fun...ALOT of fun chasing down healers and casters! What class should I be in Warhammer for PvP?
Warhammer is a rare game. In WOW the classes seem to kinda of blur together, Warlock could become tanks and still dish out the damage. Warhammer in not like that. A tank class, is going to be able to have 6+ mobs on him and not die. Melee DPS can dish out the damage fast but die faster then a tank. You just need to find a class you like. Ask yourself these questions. Are you okay with not being a front line fighter? Do you want to melee the enemy or melt their face. In Wow I used to play a Warrior. Now I play squig herders or Magus.

go wireless.I'm trying to avoid a whole bunch of lag and also heard of something called two wire.any tips or more info for me?I have just bought a new computer and the new warhammer online game and was wondering what is the best way to ?
from playing WoW over wireless I really do not suggest it. I would get random lag spikes that would kinda just freeze my game for only a second but it would be annoying. If you can, I would suggest just trying to plug it in directly. But if worse come to worse what I had was just a USB wireless device (sold for about $39.99 at Target), looks just like a jump drive. It did the job and outside those little lag spikes it worked really well..

yesI used to play Lord of the rings online on Medium settings. Will I be able to run Warhammer online?
    Same here, on LotRO.

I'm having some trouble with WAR with my old machine- it meets the minimums, but even on the lowest settings ("Best Frame Rate") I get fairly bad lag. Affects my performance ranking in the public quests unfortunately.

I have 1.25 gigs RDRAM, 256 mb GeForce 6600 vid card, and a 2.4 processor. I'd recommend at least 2 gig of RAM, I think that's my biggest problem right now.

Great game tho, even with the lag, I'm going to keep playing til I can get a new machine. A lot of similarities to LotRO (the Book of Knowledge, and the game unfolds in Chapters). But it's darker and nastier, espec on the Destruction side.

Its in very good condition, was rarely used and was looking to sell it on and wanted to know if it was worth anything. Also I was wondering where would be the best place to sell it on!What is the Warhammer 25th edition rule book worth?
The Warhammer 25th Anniversary Rule book, including all its original packaging ie the case it was bought in, comes to one hundred pounds (english) sterling on the Warhammer official website. (the official website also says there's no more availability.

Warhammer rules, both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K change every so often, rules updates, character changes, stats changes to races and weapons etc. But this a limited piece of kit, you could literally sell it at any price, and a die hard fan would pay the price you set it at.

By far the best place to start is with the "Assault on Black Reach " boxed set. This is essentially a self-contained mini-version of the game that comes with two small armies (space marines and orks), all the rules, dice, measuring sticks and a booklet of introductory scenarios to get you started.

It's one box, it's not too expensive and you can get a good idea of whether the hobby is something you want to do or not. A lot of fun can be got just from assembling and painting the miniatures and the game itself is very sociable and pretty easy to pick up.

Certainly, those of us who get into the hobby in a big way are all pretty geeky - I know I am - but the boxed set alone is great beer and pretzels game and once you've started, you'll find that the temptation to add more models, bigger tanks and more complicated rules to the game is almost overwhelming.
Warhammer 40k is called a Wargame. You are in control of one entire army, and you opponent(s) is in charge of another.

Each army is assembled using a point-buy system, where different units and abilities cost different points. Both armies are assembled using the same total so in theory they are equal. Though it is highly likely that one side will have more, cheaper units, while the other has fewer, but tougher, units.

You put the armies on your 'battlefield' which is usually a table with a few obstacles on it to represent terrain. You then take turns moving and attacking with your units, usually until one side is completely wiped out or surrenders. Rulers are heavily involved, since units move on unmarked table a specific distance each turn.

The actual rules of the game are FAR to complex to go into here; there is a reason the core rulebook is over 100 pages long, but that is the basic idea. What is warhammer 40k and how do you play it?

what is the diffrence between lets say ultramarines and any other chapters. what i want to know is why people call the ultramarines newbie are they stronger or something? Why do people call ultramarines newbie do the chapters have diffrent skills? in warhammer 40k?
To answer your question...the Ultramarines Legion are the 'standard' of Space Marine warfare and tactics. In fact, the codex of the Space Marines is entirely based from the Ultramarines.

So in essence, they are not calling Ultramarines `noob`, but instead, are calling Space Marines in general `noob` as it is the best all-around army!

And about the other Legions/Chapters? Well, according to the rules...there are no differences (5th edition). But fluff-wise, there is a pretty big difference between each Legion's fighting style (I won't go into Chapters as most Chapters derive their way of combat from their original Legion).

In case you were wondering what legions and their style was...here they are =)

    1. Dark Angels - 'standard' SM tactics, except they have incredible determination (stubborn you might say)

    2. Unknown

    3. Emperor's Children - 'standard' SM tactics, they constantly strive to attain perfection

    4. Iron Warriors - Uses heavy bombardment before an attack, experts at taking down fortifications (i.e. castles).

    5. White Scars - Lightning fast hit-and-run tactics, will not use tanks that cannot keep up with their light vehicles.

    6. Space Wolves - does not follow the codex whatsoever. Highly skilled at close combat and can turn ferocious. They are good all-around, but focus slightly more on close combat.

    7. Imperial Fists - Siege masters like the Iron Warriors. Exceptional at holding a fortification and favours long-range engagements.

    8. Night Lords - Masters of terror/psychological warfare. Favours Raptors (assault) squads more.

    9. Blood Angels - 'standard' SM tactics. Pursues perfection in all things like the Emperor's Children. They have one genetic flaw - the black rage. It turns them into beserkers and will do anything to close with the enemy to destroy them in close combat.

    10. Iron Hands - 'standard' SM tactics. They prefer machinery to flesh and all of them have at least one part of their body replaced with a machine.

    11. Unknown

    12. World Eaters - Bezerkers. They will rarely shoot their bolt pistols, instead, will charge to get close to the enemy. Excels at massacres.

    13. Ultramarines - the 'standard' SM.

    14. Death Guard - prefers foot soldiers to tanks and the likes. Will hold their ground relentlessly and then strike when the enemy is weak.

    15. Thousand Sons - Sorcery. Most of them are a psker in their own right (Librarian in other Legions/Chapters).

    16. Luna Wolves (Sons of Horus) - 'standard' SM tactics. Will aim for the 'heart' of the problem and destroy it (i.e. if fighting Imperial Guards, the Command Squad and smaller leaders).

    17. Word Bearers - extremely religious. Fields the use of Chaplains moreso than the other Legions.

    18. Salamanders - not much is known except they excel at fire-based weaponry and meltas.

    19. Raven Guard - specializes in guerilla warfare. Relies on their scouts a lot. Fields Assault Marines, Land Speeders, and bikes mainly. Tactical squads are deployed via Thunderhawk gunships.

    20. Alpha Legion 鈥?specializes in knowledge. They will always be the first to have intelligence on something. Why do people call ultramarines newbie do the chapters have diffrent skills? in warhammer 40k?
There is not a huge difference. Ultramarines are on the box, front of the codex, follow all the rules(fluffwise), and IMO are the 'boring' vanilla space marine force.

I think they get the 'newbie' rap because a lot of new people play them... because they are on the box and front of the codex. They get advertised more than any other chapter so if you play them certain people are automatically going to assume your new and jumped on the first army you saw.

What is the monthly cost to play Warhammer: Online?

and does it play like WoW or is it something totally different?

I read up a little bit on it, but was wondering if anyone had any extra insight? What is the monthly cost to play Warhammer: Online?
14.99$/month. They might have deals for purchasing more months at a time for a lesser cost montly.

It borrows some features from both WoW and DAoC. Its a Realm Vs Realm based MMoRPG where PvP is rewarded with better items and experience. Crafting is lame ( 4 gathering and 2 crafting and you can only pick one of each) and the animation of the characters isn't too fluid as it should be.

Keep in mind the game is about to be released so comparing it to WoW, which had 6+ years to get most bugs squashed, isn't right.

What is the monthly cost to play Warhammer: Online?
$14.99 per month. No idea how it plays, haven't gotten the game yet. But it looks like fun, and lots of people are calling it the WoW killer.

What army should I start with for Warhammer 40k?

I cannot debate between Chaos Space Marines or Orcs, but I can be flexible for any suggestions when starting army. But no difficult armies because I am just going to start Warhammer.

Thanks =)What army should I start with for Warhammer 40k?
If you're just starting, then I would strongly recommend going for Orks.

For a start, you get a pre-designed, easy-assemble army in the "Assault on Black Reach" boxed set along with everything else you need to play the game.

They are easier to paint and a far more entertaining army to play, with plenty of humour and fun mixed in with the havoc.

Of course, the easiest army to collect, paint and play with is Necrons. But they aren't as cost-effective as Orks and aren't anything like as much fun on the tabletop.
I play both armies. If you want to start cheaply then get Assault on Black Reach. Orks shooting is not very good. They do kick butt in close combat. CSM are almost as good as Orks in close combat but can shoot. I am currently enjoying my Chaos more than my orks. I just got tired of moving 100-120 boyz in a 1500 point game.

Pick the models you like best and go with that army. What army should I start with for Warhammer 40k?
IF your choosing between choas and ork, i would go ork, they have quite a simple codex and you can get the AoBR box to make it huge.

Either that or space marine, they're a nice rounded army for seeing what you want to play.
"Chaos Space Marines has less models=cheaper and is a small, elite army. Orcs are more of a horde army...." says my hubby, I lost him after that, sorry! What army should I start with for Warhammer 40k?

Space Marines and tyranids in the warhammer boardgame?

At the moment my friend has a tyranid army and I just have the basic assault on black reach one. I prefer to use the space marine army but before I start getting more space marine units, are the space marines any good against tyranids? If so, what are some strategies I could use. If they are bad against tyranids, what army is actually good against them?Space Marines and tyranids in the warhammer boardgame?
I feel it depends on your friend. If he just makes a nid army then ya the space marines can be extremely effective, but if he builds his army to fight marines you are in trouble. What I recommend for fighting nids is to get a lot of assault marines and devastators. Also put heavy weapons in your tactical squads, break them into combat squads, and have the a team with the heavy weapon and a team with a flamer and sargent. then you basically form two groups your shooty group that will stay in them back and give support and your punchy group that will charge the nids last second or just take the charge. I recommend putting your assault marines behind the main line and have them jump were they are needed most. Terminators and sternguard veterans are also really good since they are decent in close combat and are great at shooting.Space Marines and tyranids in the warhammer boardgame?
Marines can be good against nids. It really depends on how you build your army and, of course, on the tactics you use, the mission you play and the ability of the person you play against.

Generally, nid builds either go for hordes or giant monsters. Against either, a very reliable weapon is the Thunderfire Cannon - but the model is expensive and a pain to build. Equally good are assault cannons (plenty of shots to take down hordes, but rending to deal with big monsters). You can pack out an army with these, putting them in Terminator Squads, on Land Speeders, Dreadnoughts and on Land Raider Crusaders (Blood Angels get them on the Baal Predator, too, but that's not available to regular marines).

Another good marine option against nids is the Vindicator, but its short range (24") means that the tank can get swamped quickly if you don't protect it with infantry. For similar - but not as effective - longer ranged firepower, the Whirlwind is also a sound investment.

Of course, you must never forget your mission, and Tactical marines can't be ignored. But against most nid builds, tac squads are vulnerable to either swamping or simply being squashed by Carnifexes and Hive Tyrants (not to mention Trygons, Tervigons and Lictors!). So use the heavy firepower as infantry support as well, to protect those vital objective-seizers.

Can someone give me a quick guide of the attack phase in warhammer 40000 the table top game?

I have played this game a few times and read the book too but i still dont get the hang of it XD

Could someone tell me what is compared to what when attacking and defending please?

Thanks for your help =]Can someone give me a quick guide of the attack phase in warhammer 40000 the table top game?
The summary at the start of the chapter is your best guide.

Whoever's turn it is gets to make an Assault move - generally up to 6" - and all models who reach base contact or within 2" of a model in base contact with the enemy get to fight.

Fighting is done in Initiative order. Roll a number of dice equal to the Attacks characteristic, plus one if the model charged and one if the model has an additional close combat weapon.

Consult the relevant table to see what score on a D6 you require to hit.

Once a hit is scored, damage is caused exactly as in the shooting phase, using the Strength and Toughness of the actual models (rather than weapons).

Once you know how many wounds have been inflicted, allocate them according the rules in the book: that's one to each model in combat and surplus wounds allocated at the owning player's discretion (more or less - it's more complicated than that, but the rulebook gives the details). Roll armour saves and remove casualties.

Now move on to the next Initiative stage.

If there's a specific part of the rules that's confusing you then feel free to ask again. Can someone give me a quick guide of the attack phase in warhammer 40000 the table top game?
I will ask a friend and send an answer if you don't get one. I haven't started playing yet- still in the painting phase.

But my friends know all the rules.

I'll get back with you shortly.

  • In Warhammer, what is it called when you create new models from bits of other ones?

In particular, what's it called when you create a Khaos demon out of bits of other models or stick green stuff all over something to make it look possessed? Is it conversion? I can't remember. Or is it only called conversion when you're creating a particular unit from pieces of another one?In Warhammer, what is it called when you create new models from bits of other ones?

Which Warhammer 40K army should I use for this strategy?

What I like to do in other games like Warhammer 40K is to shell the living crap out of my opponent, and then swarm over his or her weakened army with wave after wave of infantry. I'm just becoming interested in Warhammer, so I'm not sure what army would be the best to use this tactic with. I'm leaning toward Imperial Guard, but I'm a little unsure and don't want to waste money on an army that doesn't fit well with the way I play the game.Which Warhammer 40K army should I use for this strategy?
I would say chaos space marines with the tactic being to knock lumps out of the enemy with your heavy support then sending in khorne berserkers in rhinos to finish them off they are one of the best assault units in the game and the rhino lets them get stuck in faster.Which Warhammer 40K army should I use for this strategy?
Go for space marines, that game is poorly unbalanced against imperial guards faction, they suck

What is the best Warhammer army for beginners on a budget?

Adding info on the army is optional but highly appreciatedWhat is the best Warhammer army for beginners on a budget?
For a beginner on a budget there's no question: space marines are the place to start.

First of all, they are the definitive army of the 41st Millennium: the iconic figure of the Imperium of Man. There's loads of exciting background, stirring imagery and deep, dark history to wade through. There's masses of choice when it comes to paint schemes, as almost any heraldry you can imagine is possible, and because there's lots of armour they are easy for beginners to paint. You can choose a canonical chapter or make up your own.

Secondly, they are easy to get a grip of on the tabletop. Their codex is well-designed and offers plenty of options and possibilities, and finetuning your army to perfection will absorb many a pleasant hour. Their special rules allow you to bypass some of the most frustrating elements of the game for new players, whilst still being entertaining for veterans (I ran a space marine army for over 20 years).

Finally, they are easily the most cost-effective army to build. You get a small starter army in the Assault on Black Reach boxed set that represents a strong core (you also get a small ork army to fight them, but orks aren't quite as forgiving on new players and the starter force isn't quite as ideal as the marine one) and adding additional forces is easy. No force is more popular than space marines, so finding cut-price, second hand products on eBay is easy-peasy and there's so much of it that even last-minute sniping is rarely necessary. What is the best Warhammer army for beginners on a budget?
As a father of 2 boys who are very into this i have a bit of info .if this is for 40k then go with either the ork or the Space maine orks were just upgraded and they are pretty awsome now. but you can also do well with the space marines my son just got the black reach set and then used the space marines then traded the orks for more marines. Also shop on ebay there are some pretty good armys on there as well

At what ranks in Warhammer Online do you gain mastery points, and how many?

The game informs me that at rank 40 I will have gained 25 total mastery points, and you start gaining points at rank 11. I've not been able to find information about when these points are received. I'm confused because the difference between 11 and 40 is 29. So I assume that at some ranks you don't receive points at all. Am I totally misunderstanding? At what ranks in Warhammer Online do you gain mastery points, and how many?

Can anyone please tell me what a good starting army is for a returning Warhammer Fantasy Battles player?

I haven't played in years and recently purchased the rulebook, I was hoping someone could tell me what an easy army to get started again would be.Can anyone please tell me what a good starting army is for a returning Warhammer Fantasy Battles player?
That depends on what you mean by "easy". Easy to build? Easy to paint? Easy to play with?

Generally, if you're a returning fan who's already clear on the whole background thing and just want to play the game, I'd say you should go with Lizardmen. They're easy to build, paint and play with and have a lot of character. I don't tend to recommend them to completely new players of the 11-14yo variety, because it's hard to empathise with a race of reptiles and amphibians. But if you've got a few years under your belt then they're definitely worth your time. Their Cold Blooded and Scaly Skin rules makes them a predictable army to work with tactically and they have troops to cover all the major needs (although they principally excel in the magic phase when a Mage-priest is in the army).

If you want something a little more "crunchy" in the background terms, then Tomb Kings are also an excellent starting army. Painting skeletons is a piece of cake, although they are a little more delicate than the Lizardmen, and their twin properties of being Fearless and Causing Fear means that they're a forgiving army for a new player.

On the other hand, if you're a LOTR fan, then perhaps an Elf or Dwarf army might grab your imagination more firmly. Similarly, if you like alternate history and low fantasy stuff, then the Empire is a wonderfully evocative realm with much potential.

Ultimately, when it comes to choosing your army, it needs to grip your attention with its character if you're ever going to build and paint the whole thing. Its tactical utility - whilst important - has to come second if you aren't going to end up enjoying only one-third of the hobby.

What is the most fun class in Warhammer Online?

Currently my main is a Black Orc, and I love him... I'm looking for something new though. I'm open to anything on any race, although my personal favorites are tanks and melee DPS, followed by healer, then caster. Mainly, I just want something really fun to play. What is the most fun class in Warhammer Online?
Well.. Black Orc is probably fun, but sometimes it gets boring due to the big amount of black orc around you. but when it comes to your favorite role in the group which you said TANKS you have 6 options 3 from each realm. You have the option to choose Chosen, Black orc, Black Guard, IronBreaker, Swordsmaster and Knight of the blazing sun. My personal Favourite is black orc. Moving to melee DPS you might wanna go Choppa as it is the most class that got me satisfied in WAR for it causes high damage and uses 2 weps as a rogue in WOW. my opinion says BLACK ORC%26gt; CHOPPA%26gt; SHADOW WARRIOR%26gt; SHAMAN. And thats how i determine the funnest class in warhammer. Stick to your black orc it will become fun again!!!What is the most fun class in Warhammer Online?
Disciples of Khaine / Warrior Priests can be fun because of the versatility.

You can be a decent group healer, but you are not as squishy as other healers so you can pretend to be a tank or to be DPS at times, especially in the lower tiers. If nobody on your team is attacking the opposing healers and casters, then you can go attack them yourself.

My DoK is only lvl 32 though, so I am not sure how well they do in Tier 4 yet, but they are really fun in the lower tiers. What is the most fun class in Warhammer Online?

This site provides a One-Click solution that looks at your computer's hardware and system software to determine whether or not your current system can run a product. Each of your computer's components is evaluated to see how well it meets the minimum and recommended requirements for specific products.

Recommendations are made on how to update or upgrade each component which does not meet the listed requirements. Sometimes, a simple, free software download is all that is needed. Sometimes you'll find that you need a different video card to fully experience what the game has to offer.

    /sigh at the bad answers...

The only rogue type classes (stealth, high melee dps, light armor) are the Witch Hunter and the Witch Elf.

Witch Hunters are humans (Empire), for the Order; and Witch Elfs are Dark Elves, on the Destro side. Witch hunters are slightly better in that their finishers are ranged, and they have one extra finisher that does some major DoT damage, but overall they're the same.

  • What would be a good price for 3 Warhammer 40k armies?

The armies are Chaos Space Marines, Orks, and Space Marines. The CSM army is about 1500 points, the Orks are about 700, and the Space Marines are about 800. I also would be selling the codex and some paints for each respective army. What would be a good price for 3 Warhammer 40k armies?
    1. What models are they and what kind of condition?

Since, painting and modeling actually reduces the value of the models, and also, if they are all metal models they would be easy to simply paint strip and sell as good as new.

    2. Are they painted well?

Since a well painted army will sell better than a poor painted army, of course, if you intend on paint stripping beforehand then they will sell a lot better..

Also, I would recommend joining a forum (for instance www.heresy-online.net) and post a thread selling, just don't name a price.

It doesn't matter what type of paint you use to paint your minis (another term for warhammer models). I have been using some of my paints which I use for my other models on these if I don't have the colour I want in my Citadel paint collection. What kind of paint is the Citadel paint for Warhammer 40k miniatures?
Citadel paint is a high quality paint that blends and mixes well. You can use what ever paint you want to. You probably are going to need to put on a base coat first. My son has use acrylic paint along with a base and top coat on his figures
I believe it's acrylic paint. You should prime the mini with either white (if it will be mostly light colours) or black (if it will be mostly dark colours)

    Warhammer ?

For those of you whos played the game, what do you think of it? Are the graphics good? The race, and characters? Questing and stuff? I just quit WoW about 7 months ago and I've been looking at this game. It looks really fun ;)Warhammer ?
So far I am liking it alot. Graphics won't blow you away but they are still very good for an MMO. The atmosphere is a lot different than WoW though, the overall look is darker and grittier, there aren't a lot vibrant locals, most have a very war-torn look. Class wise there is quite a bit of variety, each race has its own set of classes (3 or 4 per race) and each has its own mechanic (ie a black orc is going to ply different than an chaos chosen even though they are both "tank" classes.) Questing is also good, i especially enjoy the public quest innovation. Basically there are areas in the game where once a faction threshold is reached, such as killing 50-100 of an monster group or collecting a 100 supply crates or something, special boss charaecters/unit will be spawned and once they are killed anyone that participated gets a shot a st some pretty nice quest rewards.Warhammer ?

    Warhammer?

I've been jw for a while now. It looks interesting and i might want to try. So here is a few questions:

    1. What is a good, cheap, full, starter set?

    2. Where is it located at the cheapest price

    Thanks!Warhammer?
I do not mean to discourage you to playing warhammer, because it is an amazingly fun hobby and wargame. There is nothing cheap however, about the game.

First, ask yourself, are you interested in painting as well as the wargame? Are you going to get the most out of your money?

If you know of a games workshop store in your area, I suggest taking the time, and heading over there. Most likely one of the staff will show you how the game works, and give you a chance to play. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did, and you will be immediately hooked.

Unfortunately, none of the armies in the warhammer world are necessarily "cheaper" then the others. Choosing an army depends on your playstyle and painting style. (good, evil, melee/magic/shooting oriented). As for starter sets, there is one for every army, but they cost in the 2-3 hundred dollar range, and you usually save about 30 bucks. Personally, I wouldn't suggest them for somebody who is just starting (kind of Ironic seeing as it is a "starter" set)

A basic warhammer army consists of two "core" choices and a hero. I would suggest finding an army you are interested in playing, and buying one of the core selections to start off, eventually buying another core, and a hero. As soon as you do that, you are ready to start playing :)

As for the cheapest place, at least around where I am from, they are all generally the same price. Perhaps the cheapest would be straight from the GW website? All in all its pretty standard...

Hope this helps, even though it was probably not the answer you were looking to hear :P

How should i start a Warhammer 40k army?

I want to get into the Warhammer 40k Tabletop game, i know what race i want to be from the start (Orks) but i don't know how to start. Please can someone advise me on what i should do?How should i start a Warhammer 40k army?
I would suggest cruising various online forums related to 40K (such as 40K Online, Dakka Dakka, Warseer, The Waagh, Eternity Gate, etc.) for a while to get a general feel for things, look at modeling and painting tips, read battle reports and so on. Some of those sites might also have guides for starting 40K in general and Orks in particular (like The Waagh).

When you're ready to buy things, your first two things should be your army's Codex (Codex: Orks) and the basic rules. For the basic rules you have two options - a big rulebook with extra background and pretty pictures in it, or the Assault on Black Reach starter set, often called AoBR online. AoBR has a streamlined rulebook - everything you need to play, but doesn't have the extra pretty pictures or background info - as well as some dice and some miniatures. You're in luck as half the miniatures in the set are Orks! The other half are Space Marines, but you could sell/trade the marines to someone else for more Orks. I would suggest the AoBR set - you can get pretty pictures and background online for free.

Read the rulebook and your army book, then go back through the online forums with a higher level of understanding, and get ahold of a local group and try to watch some games, ask questions and so on. See if you can get a few practice games in with your AoBR figures. Don't worry about winning, just try to get a handle on the rules, what works and what doesn't.

Now, once you have a better understanding of the game, use your codex to make up an army list you want, and then, and ONLY then, start to buy the figures you need for it. Save yourself a LOT of money by not buying figures you'll never use!

40K is a fun game, and Orks are a fun army. Good luck and hope you enjoy it!

It's expensive because folks are willing to paint it. That and models are always expensive. The Codex/Army Books aren't that expensive $25-$30 isn't bad at all. But yes the paints/models are. We've discussed it a lot and frankly if you want to play the game you'll pay the cost it's a monopoly. Regardless it's totally worth it because the Game is really good (Warhammer more so than 40K, but both are fun!)

The production costs. During a business studies brief your looking at 250k for the cost of moulds. (at least 3 years ago that was the costing).

What is a good 1500 point Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Army for Cities Of Death?

I would like to play at least two squads of Terminators (my favourite models) and would like at least one tank. The one other thing that I want to play is my Terminator Librarian. The rest is open. Give me creative and good results for a perfect city fight. What is a good 1500 point Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Army for Cities Of Death?
Well, the 5th Ed rules have thrown a nice little spanner in the works for your city-fight missions. Deep-striking your terminators is a deeply risky prospect, which will mean deploying them in conventional fashion with all the lack of progress that entails. You may, therefore, wish to invest in a Land Raider (or variant thereof - the Redeemer will be particularly effective in cityfights with its enormous inferno cannons) which will be able to carry your Terminators to the heart of the enemy. the new vehicle damage tables make Land Raiders especially effective in cityfights as they're hard enough to hurt as it is, but will now enjoy a 4+ save from almost any shot in an urban battlefield.

That said, the Land Raider is a major points sink. The short-ranged Vindicator, by contrast, enjoys the advantage of its pie-plate ordnance template whilst being even harder to hit thanks to its lower profile. But it can't carry any Troops.

Speaking of Troops, they need to be your principle point of concentration because you need plenty of them to seize your objectives. The new Space Marines combat squads rule (in the new codex, which isn't out yet, but identical to the same rule in the Dark Angels codex) helps you to double your Troops units at the start of the game at the expense of smaller squads, but as even one surviving marine counts for claiming an objective in the new rules, this is less important. So you will want at least two Tactical squads.

Bolting on one or two Scouts squads is a good investment, especially with the new Land Speeder Storm offering high mobility transport to your squads. Mount up a squad of Scouts with sniper rifles, fly them to the top of a building and drop them off. The pick up an outflanking second squad and move them straight to the objective - easy!

Finally, remember those slow-moving Terminators? Well, you'll need something fast-moving to contest objectives or to drive enemy forces back. My favourite tactic is to combine the use of a bike squad and an Assault squad. Send them both up against one enemy unit, with one squad hitting them in one turn (usually the bike squad) and then the second squad (usually the Assult squad) piling in in the next turn.

Not only will this "double-whammy" see off the majority of enemy units, but even if it doesn't, it will draw supporting enemy units into it like moths to a flame, drawing them away from those essential objective markers while your scouts and Tactical squads run in to claim them for the Emperor! What is a good 1500 point Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Army for Cities Of Death?
well, I would go for a vindicator, and if you have so many terminators

then it would be worth it to take a company master in terminator armor.

with the new line of sight rules, you should take a few squads of scouts with sniper rifles. also, a whirlwind with castellan missiles would come in handy. Finally, some plasma cannons and missile launchers can hit a lot of people.

In Warhammer 40k how do you know how many shots you can take with each model?

I'm new to 40k but i know most of the rules, but the one thing i don't get is how many shots each model can take per attack and assault phase. I know that it varies between the assault and attack phase but what i want to know is how to tell how many shots a unit can take as a default such as how many a dreadnought can take or how many a normal space marine can take. Is it just a matter of the stats or what? Someone please answer! In Warhammer 40k how do you know how many shots you can take with each model?
Each model may shoot ONE weapon ONCE.

    That's the simple answer.

However, each weapon has a unique statline, that includes the number of dice you roll for each shot. So an "Assault 2" weapon, for example is fired once, but you roll 2 dice. A "Heavy 3" weapon means you roll 3 dice. You score a hit for each successful dice roll.

Rapid Fire weapons are a constant source of confusion, even though it's really pretty simple. If you shoot up to half the weapon's range, you can roll two dice. If you shoot between half the range and the full range, you can roll one.

Vehicles - such as dreadnoughts - are a further complication, as the number of weapons they can shoot depends upon how far they have moved. Refer to your rulebook for details.

You cannot shoot in the Assault phase. No, not even with an "Assault" weapon. In Warhammer 40k how do you know how many shots you can take with each model?
well if you are playing regular ultra-marines just look in your codex. if you have a boltgun and are within 12 inchs of an enemy model, you will get 2 shots with each person within that 12 inches, but you will be unable to assault. just look at what you want to put on each unit, say a stormbolter which is strength 4 armor pen 5 with assault 2. this means you get two shows with the weapon and can assault after you have fired as long as you are within 6 inchs. as for assaults. lets take your assault space marines with jump packs. You will get 1 attack or each unit who is not a sgt. the sgt will get two attacks base. however when you assault you will get another attack for doing so. so now the normal guys have 2 attacks and the sgt has 3. plus if they are duel wielding normal weapons say a chainsword and a bolt pistol, they will now have 3 attacks when in close combat. If you are like me and have a sgt with a powerfist and a storm shield, he will not gain this attack, instead he will just have 3 attacks for assaulting. hope this was helpful!

What is the best army overall in 40K Warhammer?

I want to know what the best army is on warhammer 40K table top game to choose. I would prefer if it wasn't too expensive as I am only 14 and I'm on the doll, i don't really want Space marines as there are a noob army but I really don't mind

ThanksWhat is the best army overall in 40K Warhammer?
Generally speaking, there is no "best" army. The armies are fairly well-balanced and a well-designed army list, in the hands of a competent player, of any army can be confident of having at least an even chance against any other player with any other army.

If money were no object, then there are some army designs that have proven to be dominant in some circumstances (the Imperial Guard has a number of expensive builds that offer advantages to the canny player), but as this clearly isn't the case, we'll move swiftly along.

If your priority is cost - and it clearly is - then your options are highly limited. You will find that buying an Ork or Space Marine army up to 1500 points on eBay is possible for less than 拢100. But you will be severely constrained in the units available to you. Forget about Land Raiders or special character models, for example. And mechanized Orks will be out of your reach.

For other armies, you need to be aware that a total expenditure, including paints, codex, rulebooks and tools, won't leave change out of 拢200 for an army of 1500 points or more (which is the typical size for a starter army). So you may have to be extra nice to the family in the hope of getting money and expensive units for Christmas and birthday. Save up your pocket money and see if you can do some extra chores for the family for small compensations: it all adds up!

A couple of other points: (1) If you're 14, you can't be on the dole, as that's only available from 16 upwards to people out of full-time education; and (2) space marines are a very popular army with new players, but that doesn't make it a noob army; I've been playing for well over 20 years and marines are my primary choice on the tabletop. What is the best army overall in 40K Warhammer?
Truthfully there isn't a "best" army to play. It all depends on your play style and what you like to do. There are many armies that excel at one aspect or another. The best all around armies would be chaos marines and space marines. Simply because their troops are jack-of-all-trades, and can pretty much handle any role you assign to them. The Imp. Guard is the best for number of templates and making a swiss army-knife style of army, where you can make a list that is able to handle whatever your opponent throws at you. Orks are arguably the best horde army, followed by the Tyranids. Both armies excel at hand to hand combat. The Tau have the longest range guns in the game, but are also the weakest in hand to hand. Necrons are fairly straight forward and hard to keep down. The eldar and dark eldar specialize in speed and special options. So it's really hard to say X army is better than Y army. It's your choice. What is the best army overall in 40K Warhammer?

What is a resource for me to identify Warhammer Units?

I bought a used Warhammer 40k Chaos Space Marine Army that I have hardly any knowledge of and i'm looking for a resource to identify the units I have, i.e. a picture with detail or something along those lines. Thanks in advanceWhat is a resource for me to identify Warhammer Units?
You'll have to get the Chaos Space Marine Codex at some point, but until you do, The Games Workshop website has pics of models on it, with some smaller descriptions of units and maybe stats too. If you go to ebay you can probably get the codex for cheaper along with the rule book. The hardcover rulebook I think has pictures of all the CSM units in it, but the small paperback book should only be a few bucks. What is a resource for me to identify Warhammer Units?
Chaos Space Marine Codex from Games Workshop will help. It has pictures of all units and description of each unit. Any way - you will need this book to play your army.

What is an easy way to make inexpensive terrian for warhammer 40k?

See what you have around. Cardboard cut out to be a city fight board is probably the quickest and cheapest to make. Cut out the buildings, tape them together, and base them on cardboard. Then get some textured spray paint in black/rock color and spray paint them. I've built lots of terrain for our club this way for about $5 a set including paint and tape. Cardboard is everywhere so that was "free"

  • What is the easiest Warhammer 40k army to build, paint and play with for a beginner?

I need an army that is easy to paint and play

    i have been looking at:

    Chaos space Marines

    Necrons

    Eldar

and was wondering was is the best pick of these or any other suggestionsWhat is the easiest Warhammer 40k army to build, paint and play with for a beginner?
Chaos should be the easiest to build.

    Necrons the easiest to paint.

Eldar are fiddly, often have a number of extra details so aren't as easy to paint, and have a higher learning curve. So three strikes for them.

Chaos is probably the most straightforward of those three to play.

But I wouldn't recommend making your decision based on what's easy. You'll be spending a lot of time and money on them, so get something you really like the look and feel of. You may have to put extra effort into them, but it will be worth it!What is the easiest Warhammer 40k army to build, paint and play with for a beginner?
Chaos Space Marines: Basic troops are relatively simple, but there are four 'specialist' troops (one for each god), three of which are at least partly metal. All vehicles are now plastic and easy to stick together. With the exception of lords, raptors, and obliterators you'll have plastic models.

A couple fun tricks while playing, pretty all around with an efficient stat line. You can focus it into a turtling army, a charging army, or a blasting/casting army.

Necrons: Also pretty simple to stick together at the basic level, with some irritating metal specialists. Painting is really simple, just a quick coat of Boltgun, a wash of Badab, and a drybrush of Chainmail and you're off to the races.

Although they may seem very powerful, they actually don't win very many games. With the phase out rule, people will focus on killing your warriors until your whole army disappears. At the individual level, they are tough, but relatively weak in my experience as an army.

Eldar: The basic troops are plastic, but the 6 or 7 specialist 'Aspects' are not. They aren't the hardest metal to stick together, but they aren't easy. The vehicles are all pretty simple to put together.

In games, Eldar can dominate or can be obliterated, and most of that is in your hands. When each part of the army works together, they can be unstoppable, but in inept hands they crumble easily. Mobility is key with Eldar, and they are an army that is relatively fragile individually (except for vehicles). I would recommend getting some help from an online Eldar forum or Librarium-Online's Eldar section if you want to play them.

Hope this helps! What is the easiest Warhammer 40k army to build, paint and play with for a beginner?
I collect Necrons and dissagree about the painting

stages of painting for my lord were

    Base coat (Boltgun Metal)

    Primary Highlight (Chainmail)

    Secondary Highlight (Mithril Silver)

Base Coat for Cape (Midnight Blue)

Secondary Coat for Cape (White on the almost dry Midnight blue in different thicknesses from the top to bottom to add a worn effect)

    Ressurection Orb Coat (Snot Green)

    Ressurection Orb Gloss (Gloss)

    Wash 1 (Badab Black)

    Wash 2 (Devlan Mud)

    Necrontyr Symbols (Golden Yellow)

That is one model. They are not an easy army. For simpler colours the easiest i found was the Tyranids, base coat of Chaos Black with Blood Red Carapace and gameplay is simple, they are fearless so leadership roles are rare and they dont have vehicles... just really really big aliens. The space marines can be fairly easy aswell as their armour is large blocks.

Also the Necrons are quite complicated during play, especially with the models that have the Living Metal rule. We'll be back roles come as a major advantage though and i would never change to another army.

    Scout battle

    Necrons vs Tau

    Necrons

    13 Warriors

    1 Lord

    Tau

    1 Ethereal

2 Shas'va Battle Suits (mini mechs)

    20 Fire Warriors

    Outcome:

    2 Necron Warriors dead

    Tau Obliterated
Necrons are easiest to paint, the eldar are very hard to paint and play, the chaos are basic but do somtimes come with confusing HQs which do take some skill.

What is a good list for a 2v2 warhammer team of high elves and lizardmen?

My friend and I are in a 2v2 tournament, i play Lizards and he plays high elves. The rules are 8th edition, 2000 points each (so 4000 total), and we care share the percentages but each need 1 character and one core choice. (so i could have 1000 points of Lords and him none, but we each need to have no more then 2000 points) Any ideas on good army lists and/or tactics to take out armies we will be facing? What is a good list for a 2v2 warhammer team of high elves and lizardmen?
I don't know much about Lizardmen but the High Elves player should really be taking at least one unit of swordmasters, 2 repeater bolt throwers and an arch mage. If you have 10 swordmasters in 2 ranks of 5 you are looking at a bunch of WS6 S5 hits, they are beasts in close combat, I have seen 10 swordmasters take out a 20 strong unit of clanrats in 1 combat phase.

I would say maybe use some cheap infantry to lure your opponent into a charge then counter charge with the swordmasters. If there is any fast cavalry on your side use it to harry the flanks and if possible take out opposing war machines. Any spells/magic items that improve on the elves T3 will be most useful. What is a good list for a 2v2 warhammer team of high elves and lizardmen?
Use your Lizardmen as frontline combatants and split your high elf points between magical support and ranged.

What would be a good price for 3 Warhammer 40k armies?

The armies are Chaos Space Marines, Orks, and Space Marines. The CSM army is about 1500 points, the Orks are about 700, and the Space Marines are about 800. I also would be selling the codex and some paints for each respective army. What would be a good price for 3 Warhammer 40k armies?
It really depends on a large number of factors. Are the figures painted? Assembled? Unless they're a phenomenal paintjob, you're not likely to get as much for them. Same goes for assembled models, since many people are very particular about how their models look. It also depends heavily on what models you're actually selling, since it's much more difficult to sell an army as a large lot (I know, I've tried).

What I would suggest is break the armies up into chunks, like "10 Chaos Marines" - a box of those brand new sells for ... I forget, but let's say $40 for the sake of argument. I would put those on eBay with a starting bid of maybe $5, with a reserve of about $20 - you're never going to get what you paid for them unless they're older, harder to find or out of production models.

Also, make sure you take lots of good, clear photos of the units, as that'll help sell them too - nothing's worse than looking to buy an army online and seeing all blurry or overexposed pictures.

    Good luck!

How do I beat Eldar in campaign on Warhammer 40000 Soulstorm?

I don't know if this is a glitch or something but they don't have a base. But there units keep appearing. The goal is annihilation but i scanned every centimeter of the map and there simply is no base. What do I do?!How do I beat Eldar in campaign on Warhammer 40000 Soulstorm?
There will be a way gate somewhere. Eldar units will just keep portaling in until you destroy it. It will just be a single building, so it could be hard to see. If there is no building at all, and you are 100% sure that there isn't one, then that would be a glitch, yes.

What is the most powerful troop in warhammer 40k?

I just want to know so i can start an army by its race. What is the most powerful troop in warhammer 40k?
"Powerful" and "troop" are ill-defined terms.

Comparing three aspects of a unit choice will give you some ideas:

    1. Amount of damage they can inflict (close combat and ranged).

    2. Amount of damage they can absorb.

    3. Amount of points they cost.

If you cross-reference these three across the board, then the most effective unit for its points cost is a 10-man tactical squad of space marines with a Rhino.

But that doesn't mean they can't have their problems. Necron Warriors are just as tough and dangerous, with the added advantage of their "We'll Be Back" rule, but cost more points and are very slow in combat.

Tyranid warriors are as strong and tough, with two wounds and some nasty weapons, but they are hard to field in groups larger than 3-5 and they're Elites (so can't hold objectives). Genestealers are fast and deadly but vulnerable to massed firepower.

Guardsmen are weak and fragile but numerous, as are Orks. Fire Warriors are great at arm's length but fall apart as soon as they're charged.

    Etc.

Choosing an army to collect based on how "powerful" you think they are is a mistake. Winning at 40k isn't about choosing the right race. It's about choosing a race you like and then learning how to win with it.

Remember that whatever army you choose, you'll have to spend a loooong time and lots of effort building, painting and assembling the whole, so it really has to be an army that sets your imagination on fire. If it doesn't, then you'll lose interest and drift away with a half-finished army and the erroneous idea that the game was somehow at fault. What is the most powerful troop in warhammer 40k?
By most powerful I assume you mean hardest to kill and able to inflict a good amount of damage. There are plenty of troops out there that can either survive for a while or dish out a good dose of pain but far fewer troops can do both.

I also assume you mean a list as a whole rather then simply the most powerful unit.

In that case I'd have to go with the Grey Knights from the Demonhunters list. Pretty hard to kill with a 3+ save, and able to dish out some real damage in both close combat and ranged.

To a lesser extent I would say all space marines or chaos marines fit this bill, but the grey knight in particular are just a little bit stronger (and more expensive points wise)

If your looking for the most powerful unit your looking at one of the space marine lists (or chaos marines). Some players might include Tau or Tyranides in this list as well.

Also last but not least if you mean powerful as far as highest winning percentage, there really isn't a list that fits this bill. Part of the draw of 40k is the balance between the lists.

That being said; there are some players that believe that the basic Space Marine list has always been and still is just a little over powered (Very minor). The supposed reason for this is simply due to it being one of the most popular lists to play and perhaps easiest to use for beginners. These points could be debated and are by no means held by everyone. What is the most powerful troop in warhammer 40k?
    depends on the army

head to your local games workshop outlet or hobby shop where warhammer stuff is sold and ask around

be prepared to spend a good chunk of change for your army as warhammer is not a cheap game to play

    figures generally cost $10+

    vehicles are $30+

as are units like troopers and bikers

special units like titans and gargants are bigtime expensive over $100+

codex's are $30 for each army

you can get a 2 rifle case from a gun store used for like $10

and use it to transport your army in

this way you can build extra units to personalize your army or change out units depending on what your facing

the game is fun and easy to learn just not cheap

What is the best warhammer set to buy?

Ok guys, I'm really interested in building warhammer. I am looking at the space marines and i have decided they are what I want to build my army on. All I am looking to know is:

1: what would be the best set to start with ( Preferably including paints )

2: just any tips in general

Thanks for your timeWhat is the best warhammer set to buy?
I would start with either the space marines battleforce (even though you need to buy an HQ separately, it's still a really good deal), or buy Assault on Black Reach (either split it with a buddy who wants to start or wants more orks, or just sell the orks at a later date). After that you can either get the hobby starter set or decide how you want to paint your army and just get the paints separately that you'll need. The hobby starter set is a good idea though since it comes with clippers and a few other thing's you'll need. Just don't forget to get super glue, because you won't be able to use plastic glue on everything. Also, if you mess something up with plastic glue, you can't fix it because the plastic glue basically melts the two parts together. Good luck man! Death to the false emperor! (Chaos player here)

I'm thinking of start painting warhammer 44,000 what is the best way to start out for beginners?

The intro box set Battle for Black Reach contains tons of figures for you to paint, and you can usually find additional figures on ebay; Space Marines from Black Reach sell for $17-20, 20 Ork Warriors sell for $20 and additional Deathcopters sell for $8, which will provide you with plenty of paint fodder, as well as the start of a fairly sizable army.

You may want to consider buying an intro paint set for Warhammer 40,000 as well, it contains 3 additional Space Marines; very useful.

A can of black primer is a must. The GW stuff is quite pricey, but is a true black. Some people use Krylon sandable automotive primer which is grey.

Use brushes with real horse hair, preferably red sable, never use brushes with synthetic hair.

Get an old bathroom tile as a pallete, or buy one at an art shop. You can even use an old comic book bag and board if trying to save money.

Assemble the models. Make sure all mold lines have been filed away.

Prime the models black. If you used Krylon grey, , go over the metal bits with Chaos Black

For paint, add a dot of paint to your palette, and thin with water. This is important. Models that have thick paint applied to them will never look good.

Start with the metal bits. drybrush the metal bits with Boltgun Metal

For Space Marines, then add the armor color. Concentrate on trying to "stay inside the lines" while pairing. If you make a mistake, flood the area with water, then try again.

Paint the base the base color.

That will get you by in a pinch.

For orks, it;s the same, but then add Bestial Brown to the pants and leather straps. Go over the pants with Vermin Brown, and the straps with Snakebite Leather

Paint the face Dark Angel Green, or Orkhide Shade.

    Paint the base.

That should do it for starters, your local GW staff should be happy to teach you more.

  • In warhammer 40K, is purity seal spray paint good for undercoating my catachans?

if not what should i use? i would have got chaos black, but they were out at the store. In warhammer 40K, is purity seal spray paint good for undercoating my catachans?
Purity seal is not a good undercoat!

It's designed to protect a finished model from knock and scratches and, as such, is a good investment, but apply it only after you've finished painting.

Fortunately, Purity Seal is formulated to make it possible to paint over the top, so all is not lost. Either wait for some Chaos Black or Skull White spray to come in or get down to your local hardware store and get yourself some acrylic primer spray suitable for plastics. Citadel spray is specially formulated for painting miniatures, so I recommend getting it. Check eBay, as I tend to get all my spray paint there at a small discount.

I would add that, for painting Catachans, Chaos Black isn't always a good place to start. However, as I know you're planning of giving yours black fatigues, it should be fine. If you were planning a more colourful army (most Catachans end up green) then Skull White would be a better undercoat. In warhammer 40K, is purity seal spray paint good for undercoating my catachans?
I've never tried undercoating with varnish, It might work so maybe you could spray a single test miniature to see what happens but I would always use a real primer. BTW, if you have always used Chaos Black before, try grey or white to see if you prefer it. I rarely use anything other than Skull White primer.

What is a tyranid prime in warhammer 40k please answer?

what is a tyranid prime, what do they do, what units can become a prime? What is a tyranid prime in warhammer 40k please answer?
Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TyranidsWhat is a tyranid prime in warhammer 40k please answer?
A Tyranid Prime is the cheapest HQ choice for a Tyranid army. It is, essentially, just a Tyranid Warrior, although one would normally be expected to convert it in some fashion or give it a distinctive paintjob to make it stand out.

In background terms, it is a Tyranid Warrior that has been genetically enhanced to possess a more intimate connection with the Hive Mind. In game terms, it's a slightly souped-up Warrior with the same weapons and upgrade options (so he can be winged). He is also the only Tyranid HQ choice that is an independent character rather than a monstrous creature, so he can hide from enemy fire in other units.

Units do not "become" Prime. He is a distinct unit choice in his own right.

HOWEVER ! My brother reads the Horus Heresy series, there are a lot of books in it to keep you busy, and he says they are excellent. Nice and graphic, action packed. I recommend starting there as a general starting point and seeing how you like them.

Ultra Marines are simply a chapter within the Space Maries race. Like Blood Angels, Space Wolves, etc they have their individual background stories, abilities and specialties, however are all of the same race and basic structure. Sort of like different tribes of the same nationality.

    Hope this helps !

What are your thoughts on Warhammer online?

I have been looking into buying this new game but would like some more input. Can someone tell me what they think about it. more information on what each class does. Maybe your favorite class. How is the game play with the game being released less then a month ago, a lot of bugs, glitches etc??

Should I hop on buying it or give it a little bit of time To let the new bugs settle and what not?

What do you think about the game? What are your thoughts on Warhammer online?
I'd say to give it a try. there are definately improvements that need to be made but it is no where near as bad as world of warcraft was when it first came out (anyone else remember the extended downtime and horrendous lag when that game first came out?) Right now Warcraft is a much smoother running game than warhammer but only because blizzard has had 4 years to smooth it out. Warhammer is very promising and though it might not be the best MMO on the market right now I say give it 6 months and it will be. Warhammer has a lot of promising features that warcraft doesn't have to offer. I'd say Warhammer has a lot of potential and will only get better with time whereas i only see Warcraft offering more of the same. I left a really good group of friends on WoW to play Warhammer and have since convinced 2 of them to start playing with me on the new game. the PVP is much better in warhammer. i hated doing PVP in warcraft but had to in order to get my gladiator gear. in this game the PVP is my favorite part.

there is a great site called warhammer alliance (www.warhammeralliance.com) that has a lot of discussion boards about each class, zone, etc.

http://www.wardb.com is another good site which is the equivelant to warcraft's thottbot.com

my favorite class so far is the shaman because i like having a character that is ranged and can heal itself but my boyfriend loves his maurader so it depends on what you like. What are your thoughts on Warhammer online?
I would hop on it if I were you. I've been in it since open beta, but have been having performance issues due to a too slow processor. I will give you my impressions thus far, and what I know from buying the Prima game guide and atlas bundle:

There are 20 (?) classes to choose from. I've tried about 6, to level 6-8. The only Order character I tried was the Swordmaster (tank) which I really enjoyed. Nothing like starting the game with a whopping huge sword to swing. On the Destruction side, I am liking the Sorcerer (ranged), Squid herder (ranged with silly pet that can explode, and you can eat it to regain health!) and Disciple of Khaine (healer). Buy the guide- it tells you how to level the characters, what stats to concentrate on. Takes the guess work out.

Bugs have been minimal, and I've been reading others feel the same. Quotes like 'very polished', 'smooth launch', etc.

Seems like the makers communicate well with their customers. There doesn't seem to be an EA Mythic sponsored forum site, but there are fan sites that are active, and I think the EA people monitor the larger ones for feedback.

I am still in the questing and participating in public quests part of the game, but I have read about the pvp scenarios and city sieges. I think the game really focuses on pvp, but it sounds like it is very well done.

The only downside I see is that the early areas for leveling are already sparse for finding other players to do the public quests with - these PQs have 3 phases- you can do the first and second solo, but beating the boss is not possible alone (at least if you do it at level). You could come back and do it when higher level but then the gear rewards won't be worth it. At level, the gear rewards are very good. So- I'd recommend getting on the game asap and join a guild asap.

One other comment- so far there's not a lot of chatter in the public chat channels (like in WoW). I think that could be because people are busy learning, and it may be because Warhammer attracts a more mature audience- more game focused, less social. Just an impression I'm getting overall.

Good luck with your decision. I'll be in game more once I upgrade to a better PC.

BTW, the stated minumums to play the game are pretty weak. You'll want at least 2 GB RAM, and a 256MB vid card. As to processor speed, they say 2.5- I have a 2.4- it runs it but choppy. So I'm shooting for a 3.0 minimum.

What is the standard/normal amount of points in a Warhammer 40k battle?

I'm getting space marines so i'd like to know how many points I should build my army to for battles. What is the standard/normal amount of points in a Warhammer 40k battle?
It depends on what size and length of battle you want to play.

A 500 point battle will be over in an hour or less (if you know the rules well, you can do 500 points in 40 minutes).

A 1000 point battle will probably take about 1.5-2 hours.

My club tends to focus on 1500 point battles as the standard in both 40k and WFB, and these will usually occupy the time between the 1830 start time and the 2200 kick-out time very neatly, allowing for setting-up and packing away.

2000 point games will take a bit longer, although if you both know the rules very well and are playing for speed, you can do it in three hours.

Games of more than 2000 points generally need at least an entire day allocated to them, whilst games with 3000 points or more on each side (moving into the realms of "WH40k: Apocalypse", here) will take up a weekend.

I was chatting with someone yesterday who had 10,000 points of Empire for WFB and another with 5,000 points of Space Marines. This didn't mean that they played games of this size on a regular basis (or ever!) but rather than they could field large or small regiments of every sort of troop type, warmachine and vehicle, tailoring their army lists as they felt moved and according to their opponent. What is the standard/normal amount of points in a Warhammer 40k battle?
    between 750-2000.

i find that 1000, 1500, and 2000 are the best.

There are no "best units" per se, mostly to maintain balance. What there are, are units that are hard to counter. The most deadly unit of space marines that i have run across is a unit of jump assault marines with Shrike. Shrike lets them infiltrate and gives fleet to all units. So you infiltrate them and now you have a unit with a guaranteed assault range of 19" and a max of 24". put some power weapons in there and you have a formidable fast assault unit.

By themselves, Terminators are quite powerful and have a plethora of rules that let them break every rule in the book. They can move and fire any weapon (even heavy) and with a 2+ armor and 5+ (3+ with storm shields) invuln, they are pretty resilient.

You really just need to experiment and find out what works best for you. What is the Best Warhammer Space Marine?
Arguably, the single most powerful unit choice is one of ten Assault Terminators with thunder hammers and storm shields delivered by deep strike (ideally using a locator beacon). With a 2+ save and 3+ invulnerable save, they are very hard to put down, can destroy infantry and vehicles with equal ease and can be deployed exactly where you need them, when you need them. Of course, they're also very expensive, but - my goodness! - they'll give your opponent a horrible, horrible shock. Even if they suffer bad dice, they can cause massive disruption to an enemy's battle plans.
